Sopro SMART® Lightweight Flooring Renovation System is a fast-track, lightweight, void-forming floor renovation system. The key benefits of the system, developed specifically for the refurbishment and renovation sector, are SMART®: Strong, Mineral, Airy, Rapid, and True.

At its core is the new Sopro LZ 987 SMART® lightweight aggregate, a non-combustible, mineral material made from expanded glass granulate. Sopro LZ 987 is mixed with Sopro Rapidur® B5 rapid-set screed binder to produce moisture-resistant, thermally and sound-insulating, lightweight levelling layers with low area loads and lasting dimensional stability.

Benefits of Sopro SMART® System

Strong | Plane surface with no springiness

Mineral | Non-combustible, A1 fire rating to DIN 4102

Airy | Extra-low weight per unit area

Rapid | Allows early tiling, an alternative to board subfloors

True | Levelling, with coat thickness ≥ 20 mm 1)

NI Builder Magazine says,As the main contractor for Queen’s University Belfast’s new £4.9m Seamus Heaney Centre, GEDA preserved the heritage of two listed buildings while upgrading the site to meet modern standards. Transforming two Grade II-listed buildings into Queen’s new £4.9m Seamus Heaney Centre has proved both a challenging and rewarding experience for its main contractor.

Dungannon-based GEDA Construction is well-versed in handling projects of all sizes and complexity and pushing the boundaries of engineering and construction.

The refurbished site occupies 38-40 University Road and 3 Mount Charles buildings. Spanning 1,000 sqm, it doubles the size of the original centre founded in 2004 and opened by the acclaimed poet himself.

Having successfully navigated the many challenges emerging along the way, the Seamus Heaney Centre now represents a distinguished addition to GEDA’s portfolio.

“A significant milestone for our company, it reflects our ability to handle complex, high-profile projects and reinforces our reputation as a trusted and capable construction partner,” said Eddie Murnin, Associate Director of Construction at GEDA

“This project stands out as a testament to our expertise, collaborative spirit and unwavering commitment to preserving cultural heritage while advancing modern construction practices.”  Source NI Builder July 24

WHY USE LIME-BASED RENDER AND PLASTER?

SMET’s bauprocalc products are CE-marked, factory-produced hydraulic hardening skim coat plasters and render based on lime, specially designed for hand and machine application produced to DIN EN 998-1. bauprocalc KG and bauprocalc 830 contribute to a healthy internal atmosphere.

They are an excellent alternative to plaster and renders containing gypsum or patent cement which are too strong and have less vapour permeable qualities.

They are ideal for kitchens, bathrooms, and rooms where high humidity levels are expected. bauprocalc KG produces a mortar that is softer than cement mortar. After the initial set, stability and strength gradually build up over time, allowing enough flexibility to cope with minor settlement or movement in the building during this period, thereby reducing the risk of cracking.

bauprocalc 830 has unique properties, making it suitable for application on low, medium, and high-density substrates, especially suited for renovating old /listed buildings and ecological new builds.

Good vapour permeability performance allows an unhindered transference of excess internal moisture through the building to the outside, thereby contributing significantly to a balanced and healthy internal atmosphere.
