To become a certified Constructionline member SMET had to demonstrate that they meet Constructionline’s rigorous pre-qualification (PQQ) criteria. Constructionline collect and assess a wide range of information during the certification process, from professional conduct, financial information, proof of insurances, and previous experience and references. This process re-assures buyers, from both public and private sector organisations that they are pre-qualified in line with government and industry standards. The certification also allows suppliers to fast-track the pre-qualification process for Constructionline buyers so they need only provide project-specific data.

Colette Hood, Operations Manager at SMET said, “Achieving certification with Constructionline demonstrates our commitment to our Smet Supported Partners, and further reinforces the superior level of professional service we aim to deliver to our partners. We are already saving a considerable amount of time and money by not having to repeatedly fill out PQQ forms, which means we can spend more time focusing on our customers’ needs.”
Reducing the burden of pre-qualification (PQQ) in the construction industry is Constructionline’s top priority. The scheme works with over 8,000 buyers and 22,000 suppliers to promote better buying practices and to remove PQQ duplication in order to save buyers and suppliers’ time and money.
Constructionline is a public private partnership between the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills (formerly BERR) and Capita Business Services.  As a national online database, it is the UK’s largest pre-qualification certification scheme for contractors and consultants. Its aim is to improve efficiencies for buyers and suppliers in the construction industry, specifically by reducing the duplication of work and administration relating to the process of pre-qualifying suppliers for construction contracts.  Constructionline is open to public and private sector organisations and owned by the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills.
