Onexit Universal 701 was selected for the application onto Poroton insulating masonry at the new extension of Our Lady’s Hospital, built by main contractor Walls Construction. Face 8, specialist facade contractor, Drogheda, carried out both the build of the 450 m² blocks and application of the render. The special render properties; light weight, low thermal conductivity high yield and technical back up, were the key factors in selecting Smet Building Products & Onexit’s high quality product. For the application of a scratch coat prior to gypsum skim, Bauprotec 900 E was spray applied. Again a showcase project highlighting the how best practice can be achieved when partnering with Smet Building Products Ltd.

In order to create falls on balconies constructed from precast concrete. Brendan Doherty Ltd applied a highly polymer modified screed ranging from depths of 5mm up to 45mm after application of a bonding slurry over 800 m². The product was pumped using a pneumatic floor screed pump up to 6 stories high. A showcase project of innovative best practice.

Camden St, in Dublin, received a full façade restoration by main contractor Avid Building Contractors, utilising Natural Hydraulic Lime 3.5 on the external wall façade. Key drivers in the selection of Lime based plaster include: improved ‘breathability’ to water and water vapour which reduces the likelihood of frost failure of the unit materials and improves the internal living environment. High quality pure Natural Hydraulic Lime binder 3.5 is produced under an ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004 quality system to EN 459-1.  NHL binders are particularly suited for ecological new build, restoration and preservation works.

CASEA Bauprotec 850 M Render was selected for the refurbishment, of the existing Lidls store located in Lucan, Co Dublin.  Smet Supported Partner, ACS Dry Wall Ltd, spray applied the Lightweight CE marked Lime Cement Render, produced to EN 998-1: 2003, to the internal walls and external facade.  Main contractor for the project was Weslin Construction. Bauprotec 850 M is manufactured from a controlled blend of selected aggregates, lightweight aggregates, cement, polymers, fibres and other components to give a high quality weather resistant rendering product which is suitable for use in external rendering and internal plastering. The product’s special composition allows the product to breathe and also permits constant hygrometric exchange between the substrate and the environment.  The special render properties; light weight, low thermal conductivity, high yield and superior technical back up provided from SMET to their Supported Partners, were the key factors in choosing Smet Building Products in delivering SHG’s high quality product.
