Description

Bauprotec 850 M – Lightweight Lime Cement Render and CASEA Bauprotec RHS – Multi Purpose Render, were selected for the LIDL spec render facade of the brand new Lidl Store located in Virginia Co Cavan.  Smet Supported Partner, McCallion Construction Group, applied the Lightweight CE marked Lime Cement Render, produced to EN 998-1: 2010, internally and to external facade.  Bauprotec 850 M is manufactured from a controlled blend of selected aggregates, lightweight aggregates, cement, polymers, fibres and other components to give a high-quality weather resistant rendering product which is suitable for use in external rendering and internal plastering. The product’s special composition allows the product to breathe and also permits constant hygrometric exchange between the substrate and the environment. Bauprotec RHS is a CE Marked, factory produced highly polymer-modified render specially designed for hand and machine application produced to EN 998-1: 2010.

The special render properties; light weight, low thermal conductivity, high yield and Smet Supported Partner superior technical backup, are key factors in choosing SMET German-made render products in delivering consistently high-quality render systems to Lidl Plastering and Rendering Contractors.

Here’s the McCallion Group in action:

McCallion said, ‘This was a brand-new concept for Lidl and it was the first of its kind to be built in Ireland. The project was meticulously programmed by McCallion Group so that it could be fully completed in just 25 weeks. The project was completed one week ahead of programme for the client. The works consisted of the demolition of four large houses, outbuildings, sheds, walls and the removal of 10,000m3 of inert soil from the site. When the demolition works was completed, McCallion Group commenced the construction of a three tier Lidl Undercroft retail store. The ground floor housed a carpark, control rooms, a goods and customer elevator, three stairwells, a double carriage travellator and an entrance lobby. From the entrance lobby, customers can travel to the first floor by a choice of a travellator, elevator or stairwells. The main shop floor is located on the first floor along with a bakery, freezers, a warehouse and welfare facilities for both the staff and customers. Further plant rooms are located on the second floor. The external works included all groundworks, pipework and utility installation, kerbing, tarmacking, line-marking and fencing. The store opened in October 2016 and it is now a flagship store for Lidl Ireland. The store boasts of a new, higher specification that Lidl Ireland has introduced for all stores going forward’. For more on other McCallion delivered McCallion Lidl Render System projects.
