Description

Bauprocalc KG Hydraulic Lime Based Skim Coat and NHL 3.5 & NHL 5 Binders were specially selected for the repointing and render/plaster finish of the unique renovation of the Church of the Sacred Heart, Lislea, Co Armagh.

External walls were restored with lime plaster using high quality pure Natural Hydraulic Lime binders: NHL 5 & NHL 3.5. The selective hydraulic strength development of NHL binders make them particularly suitable for producing lime mortars for masonry work, rendering and plastering. NHL binders, available from SMET and distribution partner Haldane Fisher, are particularly suited for ecological new build, restoration and preservation works. The product’s special composition allow the mortar to breathe and permits constant hygrometric exchange between the substrate and the environment.

Internal walls were restored using Bauprocalc KG/FP Lime Based Skimming Plaster after application of the NHL 3.5 base coat. The unique properties of Bauprocalc KG/FP such as; high water vapour permeability (breathability), sustainability, machine application and quality credentials (produced to DIN EN 998-1: 2003. and CE marked), were key drivers in the selection of this conservation plastering system. Local building firm, Johnston Construction, in partnership with J.L. O’Hagan & Co. Architects, were able to conveniently source all products locally from Newry Haldane Fisher.

Another showcase of sympathetic historic building restoration, using top quality NHL and lime products available from Newry based Smet Building Products Ltd. The comprehensive range of NHL restoration and preservation products, combined with exceptional technical support and aftercare provided by SMET, are key drivers in the selection of their conservation façade systems. ISO 9001, 14001 and 18001 accredited Smet Building Products Ltd, demonstrating – once again – best practice in supporting their selected partners in Render System Solutions.
