Description

The external building of Whitechurch Church of Ireland in Rathfarnham, Co Dublin, recently received a sympathetic external renovation by Smet Supported Partner, PKG Plastering, in conjunction with Tolmac Construction.  Natural Hydraulic Lime (NHL) – SMET NHL 3.5 binder was utilised in the re-plastering of the old exterior stone walls in this specialised project.   SMET NHL 3.5 is a high quality pure Natural Hydraulic Lime binder, produced under an ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004 quality system to EN 459-1. The moderate hydraulic strength development of SMET NHL 3.5 makes it suitable for producing lime mortars for masonry work, rendering, plastering base coats and limecrete.  As SMET NHL 3.5 is a moderately hydraulic lime binder, used for the production of mortars, it is particularly suited for ecological new build, restoration and preservation works. The product’s special composition allows the mortar product to breathe and also permits constant hygrometric exchange between the substrate and the environment.  As a result, the old church building retains its historical character befitting its location and use.  SMET are proud to supply to such important preservation works throughout the Island of Ireland.
